In alignment with its ongoing commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 4: Quality Education, East Bridge University (EBU) has extended its support to the Missionary Society of St. Columban, an international Catholic organisation dedicated to social upliftment, education, and humanitarian outreach across some of the world’s most disadvantaged communities.
This donation reaffirms our vision that education and compassion together can transform lives, bridging the gap between access and opportunity while empowering communities toward self-reliance and dignity.
A Mission of Faith, Service, and Inclusion
Founded over a century ago, the Missionary Society of St. Columban is recognised globally for its humanitarian and educational initiatives spanning Asia, Latin America, and Oceania. The organisation provides critical services to marginalised populations through educational programs, community development, refugee support, and interfaith dialogue.
The Columban Fathers’ work in education and poverty alleviation directly complements EBU’s academic mission of “Education for Global Impact”, which promotes accessible and inclusive learning opportunities regardless of geography or socio-economic status.
Education as a Bridge to Opportunity
EBU’s donation supports educational and community development initiatives that create lasting social transformation. The Columban Fathers’ programs, especially those focusing on youth and rural education, mirror EBU’s belief that education is the first and most effective step toward breaking the cycle of poverty.
Under SDG 1, EBU keeps striving for poverty eradication by means of access to high-quality education, job prospects, and community empowerment. Through SDG 4, the institution simultaneously reinforces its attention on developing inclusive and fair educational systems offering lifelong learning possibilities for all.
With this alliance, both organisations strive to make sure that underprivileged students not only have access to education but also develop the skills and confidence necessary to lead autonomous and purposeful lives.
Faith in Action: A Shared Commitment to Humanity
The Missionary Society of St. Columban's wide-ranging outreach activities, from supporting women and children's education to offering livelihood training for destitute families, reflect the institution's own commitment to empowering people through holistic learning.
EBU's contribution complements its larger portfolio of SDG-driven projects that advance inclusion, social responsibility, and international cooperation. Ensuring that its dedication to the SDGs translates into actual, measurable results, the university has previously contributed to groups including Girls Education Mission International and FARM STEW International.
EBU sees education not only as an intellectual endeavour but also as a social obligation, one that fosters empathy, fairness, and empowerment across countries, and this ongoing involvement reflects this vision.
