EBU Partners with Girls Education Mission International to Help Empower Young Girls Through Education

28th October 2025

At East Bridge University (EBU), a Paris-based, globally accredited higher-education institution, we have reinforced our commitment to social responsibility and inclusive learning through a financial contribution to Girls Education Mission International (GEM) via GlobalGiving. The initiative supports girls from disadvantaged communities in Nigeria with access to schooling, mentorship, and community-empowerment programs.

This donation reflects EBU’s mission of “Education with Purpose. Learning with Impact.” — ensuring that academic excellence extends beyond classrooms to create tangible social progress. By partnering with GEM, the University continues its long-term pursuit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 1 – No Poverty, SDG 5 – Gender Equality, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals).

“Every child’s right to education must be protected and strengthened,” said Dr Janat Ruby Clemis, Director General of East Bridge University. “Our support to Girls Education Mission International embodies our belief that empowering girls through learning creates a ripple effect of progress for families, communities, and nations.”

Through GEM’s programs, young girls—particularly those from low-income and rural backgrounds—receive scholarships, leadership training, and community guidance to help them remain in school and achieve their potential. These efforts directly contribute to SDG 1 by breaking cycles of poverty through education, and to SDG 5, by advancing gender equality and leadership opportunities for women and girls.

EBU’s involvement further demonstrates the power of SDG 17, fostering cross-sector partnerships that link academia, non-profits, and local communities toward shared educational outcomes. The collaboration complements EBU’s broader sustainability initiatives, including financial-inclusion scholarships, women-in-leadership programs, and community-based academic projects across Asia and Africa.

This act of giving symbolises more than philanthropy—it is an expression of our belief that universities must be active participants in building a more equitable and sustainable world.
