EBU Expands Academic Collaboration in Myanmar to Advance SDG Partnerships

28th February 2026

East Bridge University has expanded its academic partnerships in Myanmar, furthering our involvement in Southeast Asia and fostering commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

The Myanmar collaboration is a thoughtful approach to international cooperation, grounded in open dialogue, shared learning, and the building of long-term relationships. For EBU, academic collaboration and partnerships form the bedrock of our goal towards developing sustainable and inclusive education systems.

Deepening Regional Academic Engagement

The collaboration with our Myanmar academic partner, Today’s Top Star College, builds on the University’s ongoing work with local institutions and regional partners. The goal is to go beyond just signing academic agreements and encourage ongoing academic collaboration, sharing knowledge, and building skills collectively.

Through this engagement, EBU aims to:

  • Encourage cross-sectoral discussion on the Sustainable Development Goals
  • Support academic and professional exchange between institutions
  • Strengthen collaborative research conversations
  • Contribute to locally relevant educational development

By working with regional partners, the University aims to make sure that global goals like the SDGs are understood and implemented in ways that fit the local needs. The motto is to further the idea that real progress depends on cooperation between institutions, fields, and communities.

Advancing SDG 17 Through Practical Collaboration

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals stands on the principle that there is a need for strong global partnerships to share knowledge, skills, and responsibility. And universities are key to this, especially when they work together with respect and fairness.

EBU’s growth in Myanmar shows how we can amalgamate international benchmarks with regional requirements. In partnership, instead of acting as an outsider, East Bridge University incorporates shared academic effort. Conversations with local educators and partners focus on practical topics like aligning courses with their needs, building research skills, developing institutions, and providing academic support to students.

Building Sustainable Education Ecosystems

Sustainable education grows not just from single institutions, but from working together in networks. In Myanmar, our efforts focus on making these networks stronger through:

  • Academic exchange and professional dialogue
  • Joint exploration of research themes linked to sustainable development
  • Institutional capacity building
  • Shared reflection on inclusive and accessible education models

This long-term focus shows the belief that higher education should work positively across borders. Sustainable systems develop when institutions listen, contribute thoughtfully, and pay attention to local needs.

A Responsible Approach to International Partnership

Working internationally brings both opportunities and responsibilities. EBU’s work in Myanmar is guided by respect for each institution’s independence, local culture, and regional knowledge.

The University’s approach towards academic partners stands on a commitment to working together in an ethical and thoughtful way. Global engagement for us is growing as a shared educational community that strives for the upliftment of individuals across the globe.

For students and scholars, this approach demonstrates that their educational journey is linked to global discussions on sustainability, fairness, and strong institutional credibility.

Looking Ahead!

Expanding academic partnerships in Myanmar is one of EBU’s larger goals to build stronger connections across regions. As a University, we keep working with schools and partners in Southeast Asia, focusing on ongoing conversations, sharing knowledge, and building skills together.

In advancing SDG 17 through practice rather than rhetoric, East Bridge University reaffirms a simple principle: sustainable progress in higher education depends on partnership. Through thoughtful regional engagement, the University seeks to contribute to education systems that are inclusive, responsive, and resilient.
