EBU Extends Flood Relief Support in Thailand Through SDG-Driven Humanitarian Donation

9th December 2025

As many communities across Thailand work hard to rebuild their lives after the recent floods, East Bridge University (EBU) has come forward with heartfelt support to help those in need. This act of solidarity reflects the University’s deep commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, and its belief that real change begins with compassion in action.

On 26 November 2025, EBU extended a donation of 20,000 Thai Baht (THB) to the Catholic Council for Development – Thailand, a trusted organisation working closely with flood-affected communities. The donation was securely transferred through Siam Commercial Bank, Thailand, ensuring that help reached where it was needed without delay.

Standing with the Most Affected Under SDG 1: No Poverty

Often, the most underprivileged families—those already struggling with little income, poor dwellings, and uncertain livelihoods—are hit hardest when floods strike. EBU is supporting these people as they struggle with the extremely real issues of loss, displacement, and building their lives from scratch through this donation.

This gesture also reflects a belief that runs deeply through EBU’s work: that education and poverty alleviation are closely linked. While many of EBU’s SDG 1 efforts focus on scholarships, financial support, and widening access to education, this relief effort is a reminder that support must also reach people in moments of immediate crisis. Because true poverty reduction means being present not only in times of growth, but also in times of hardship.

By extending immediate support during natural disasters, EBU strengthens its mission of ensuring that dignity, safety, and essential needs are not denied to anyone during times of emergency.

Collaboration in Action Through SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

True impact is created when institutions work together. This donation was channelled through the Catholic Council for Development – Thailand, demonstrating how cross-sector collaboration can accelerate humanitarian response.

This partnership-driven approach reflects the spirit of SDG 17, where universities, community organisations, and development bodies come together to multiply impact beyond individual capacity. Rather than acting in isolation, EBU chose to support an established local organisation that understands ground-level needs and has the infrastructure to deliver aid effectively.

Through such partnerships, EBU ensures that its global sustainability commitments are translated into real, measurable action at the community level.

Standing with Thailand in a Time of Need

Natural disasters remind us of our shared vulnerability and interconnectedness. While recovery takes time, compassion and solidarity can offer immediate strength to those affected.

Through this contribution, EBU reaffirms that its role as an educational institution extends beyond classrooms and degrees. It includes standing beside communities in moments of crisis, responding with empathy, and acting with purpose.

A Continuing Commitment to the Global Goals

Through education, inclusivity, and cooperation, the flood relief contribution aids the EBU in its ongoing pursuit of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The University is committed to creating not only academic futures but also resilient communities and shared worldwide development with continuous work over SDG 1, SDG 4, SDG 5, and SDG 17.

This gesture of help reminds us that when organisations lead with intention, even a little contribution might become part of a much more significant movement of hope, rehabilitation, and sustainable development as EBU keeps growing its SDG projects.
