24th October 2025
In a powerful continuation of its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), East Bridge University (EBU) recently hosted a thought-provoking webinar titled “Embedding Sustainability and Global Responsibility in Higher Education: The EBU Roadmap to 2030.”
The live session, held on 16th October 2025, brought together a diverse audience of students, educators, researchers, and education professionals from across India, Thailand, the UAE, and beyond. The 60-minute webinar, featuring Dr Maurice, Chairman of the Board of Academics, and Dr Karl, Associate Dean of Academics at EBU, offered a deep dive into the university’s ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability, inclusivity, and global citizenship into every facet of higher education.
Setting the Stage: Dr Maurice on the Global Responsibility of Education
The session began with an inspiring address by Dr Maurice, who spoke passionately about the evolving role of higher education in driving sustainable global change. He emphasised how universities have the moral and social responsibility to go beyond conventional teaching by instilling empathy, ethical awareness, and civic engagement in their learners.
Dr Maurice reflected on EBU’s core mission: to educate for global good. He shared how the university’s initiatives are rooted in its deep commitment to four key SDGs — SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The Roadmap to 2030: Dr Karl on Building Sustainable Futures
Following Dr Maurice’s address, Dr Karl took the virtual stage to elaborate on EBU’s roadmap to 2030, outlining how the university is embedding sustainability and global responsibility within its institutional framework.
He shared practical examples of how EBU’s academic and administrative strategies align with the SDGs — from designing flexible and inclusive academic programs to fostering partnerships that amplify impact. Dr Karl discussed how EBU’s learning model encourages critical thinking, innovation, and global awareness among students, preparing them to tackle real-world challenges with a sustainability-first mindset.
