Building Research Confidence: East Bridge University Hosts Exclusive Webinar for Doctorate Students

13th October 2025

Dr Jarek Kriukow, Associate Director - Research Programs at East Bridge University, recently conducted a webinar for our doctorate students titled Research Methodologies: Procedures and Common Problems. The interactive session brought together professionals, researchers and educators from across regions to explore the nuances of research design, methodology selection, and data analysis.

An Engaging and Insightful Learning Experience

The webinar provided a dynamic learning environment above and beyond conventional teaching. Dr Kriukow's fascinating talk urged active involvement, inspiring students to ask questions and consider their own research methods. The interactive Q&A session, which clarified typical research difficulties like formulating excellent research questions, picking participants, and choosing suitable data gathering methods, was especially welcomed by attendees.

Highlights from the Session

Drawing from his presentation “Qualitative Research: Procedures and Common Problems,” Dr Kriukow guided participants through the fundamental distinctions between qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research designs. He emphasised that while quantitative studies rely on measurable data and generalisation, qualitative research focuses on exploring experiences, meanings, and perspectives in depth.

The session explored key aspects of the research cycle, including:

  • Defining a clear rationale and purpose for research while formulating focused and feasible research questions.
  • Choosing and recruiting appropriate participants and selecting the right data collection techniques, such as interviews, focus groups, and reflective journals.
  • Understanding various methodological frameworks such as Grounded Theory, Case Study, Narrative Research, Phenomenology, and Ethnography.
  • Approaching data analysis with simplicity and precision, avoiding unnecessary complexity while ensuring alignment with research questions.

Renewed Commitment to Research Excellence

The webinar explored in-depth the common queries that researchers face while conducting their research. It was an interactive session that encouraged participants to come up with their queries that were addressed by Dr Jarek. The success of the webinar reaffirms East Bridge University’s commitment to empowering its doctorate students with robust academic and research support.
