Education often begins in classrooms, but its real impact is felt far beyond.
East Bridge University (EBU) does not view learning as something confined only to strict academic structures or digital programs. For us, education is societal development that is meant to grow through people, communities and collaborative experiences. As an international higher-learning organisation, our goal has always been to provide education that is accessible and affordable to people and communities in the farthest regions of the globe.
EBU strives for inclusive education through community outreach events that engage learners, educators, and local communities, ensuring that educational access reaches the places where it is needed most. Each of our initiatives, be it in Mumbai, Thailand, or Kolkata, is grounded in its respective local context while connecting a common thread and sharing a commitment to inclusive learning, equitable access, and community upliftment.
Investing in Educators: Strengthening Inclusive Classrooms in Mumbai
In Mumbai, East Bridge University collaborated with Ashadeep Association to conduct a teacher training workshop that centred around inclusive education and how to cater to the different learning needs of diverse students. Ashadeep Association is an organisation that works with underprivileged children and specially abled kids.
Through this teacher development initiative, EBU aimed to strengthen inclusive classroom practices, particularly in an environment where resources are limited but commitment remains strong. These training efforts recognise the importance of the role played by educators in shaping learning experiences.
There is also a quieter, yet important dimension to this work. As a large proportion of educators in such settings are women, many of whom balance professional responsibilities alongside personal and social expectations, supporting teacher development, in this context, becomes a way of supporting the individuals who sustain education systems from within.
Inclusive Outreach in Practice: Supporting Children in Thailand
EBU’s participation in Thailand Children’s Day reflects a similar commitment to inclusion, this time through direct engagement with young learners. The outreach focused on creating a space where children with disabilities could participate freely and confidently.
Our Thailand initiative helps us to recognise many layered challenges. Often, children, especially girls with disabilities, have very limited access to such educational spaces because of multiple barriers. Creating spaces and moments of inclusion can create a much bigger and lasting outcome, as it can be the start of someone’s educational journey with renewed hope and commitment.
Rather than approaching inclusion as an abstract goal, EBU likes to bring it into everyday practice through such initiatives where it can be felt, experienced, and sustained.
Leadership in the Field: Inspiring Young Learners in Kolkata
Our founder and visionary leader, Dr Sanjib Neil Chakraborty, visited Vivekananda Vidyapith in Kolkata to spend time and interact with young learners there. The visit was a jovial meeting where students from various backgrounds shared their aspirations, goals and interests with Dr Chakraborty, leading to a heartfelt conversation that left a lasting impression.
This visit to Vivekananda Vidyapith by EBU’s Founder offered a different, yet equally meaningful form of engagement. For many students, especially those from diverse or underrepresented backgrounds, such moments help make education feel more visible and attainable. There was no emphasis on scale or structure here, only on connection. And sometimes, that is where the most meaningful forms of inspiration begin.
By being present at the regional grassroots level, EBU reinforces a quiet but important message: that every learner, regardless of their background or gender, has a place within the broader global educational journey.
A Connected Approach to Inclusion and Equity
What brings these initiatives together is not just their intent, but their continuity. They are not isolated efforts, but part of a broader way of shaping education that values access, participation, and relevance in equal measure.
All our community partnership programs form a part of our ongoing efforts to promote and align with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).
At EBU, inclusion is not approached as a separate agenda. It is woven into how programs are designed, how communities are engaged, and how opportunities are extended. All these initiatives once again highlight that the University is dedicated towards making meaningful changes on the ground through promoting valuable and accessible education, and striving to mitigate gender discrimination.
