East Bridge University (EBU) is all set to participate in the 2026 THE Global Sustainable Development (GSD) Congress. This year, the GSD Congress event will be held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition in Jakarta from 22-25 June 2026. Organised by Times Higher Education (THE), the Congress brings together universities and stakeholders to reflect on how education can contribute to sustainable development.
For EBU, being part of the Global Sustainable Development Congress aligns with the university’s continuing initiatives to be engaged in international conversations on sustainability and promote higher learning that is open, fair, and future-focused. The University’s work continues to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the THE Impact Rankings, both of which emphasise the role of higher education in shaping inclusive and responsible systems.
About THE Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026
The Global Sustainable Development Congress provides a space for universities, policymakers, industry leaders, and non-governmental organisations to come together and exchange perspectives on sustainable development. The discussions at the Congress explore how education systems can respond to complex global challenges, including inclusive education, increased access to learning, research that highlights societal issues, and the role of global partnerships and collaboration for futuristic growth and long-term development.
GSD Congress provides a global platform for participants where they can converse, share learning and reflect on how institutions and businesses can contribute towards sustainable development across regions and sectors. The Congress will welcome more than 5,000 sustainability changemakers this year from around the world. This amalgamation of diverse people, institutions and businesses provides us the backdrop that progress on sustainability is shaped not by isolated efforts, but through continued collaboration across regions and sectors.
Strategic Alignment with THE Impact Rankings
EBU’s participation in the Congress is closely connected to its broader engagement with the THE Impact Rankings. The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings is a widely regarded international ranking system that ranks educational bodies based on their efforts in contributing meaningfully to the UN SDGs through teaching, research, outreach and governance.
