East Bridge University partnered with Ashadeep Association in Mumbai on 27 February 2026 to conduct a teacher training workshop and provide support for the organisation’s ongoing educational activities for underprivileged kids. The visit was part of our continuous efforts of community involvement, which included a financial donation to support Ashadeep's activities for its students and their families.
About Ashadeep Association
Founded in 1976, Ashadeep Association supports communities facing economic challenges by offering education, food, healthcare, and programs for women and widows in need. Their classrooms bring together students from many different backgrounds, so inclusive teaching is especially important.
A Workshop Focused on Inclusive Classrooms
The workshop focused on “Classroom Management and Language Building Strategies for an Inclusive Classroom.” It looked at everyday teaching practices and explored practical ways to support students from different social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
Teachers in community-based schools often work with students who have different needs and limited resources. Opportunities for professional discussion and shared learning can help teachers reflect on their work and share ideas to support inclusive classrooms.
These efforts are closely linked to SDG 4: Quality Education, which promotes fair and accessible learning for all. When teachers get support to develop useful techniques for inclusive classrooms, students are more likely to feel welcome and engaged in learning.
Recognising the Role of Women Educators
The workshop also highlighted the role many women educators play in community-based schools. Their work connects closely with the goals of gender equality by strengthening professional opportunities and leadership for women within the education sector. In practical terms, supporting teachers’ development contributes to more inclusive classrooms and, over time, to greater opportunities for the students they teach.
Promoting professional development for women educators supports SDG 5: Gender Equality. Building their skills and confidence helps increase participation and leadership throughout the education sector.
Education and Opportunity
Inclusive classrooms also help expand opportunities for children from low-income backgrounds. When students feel supported and encouraged at school, they are more likely to stay engaged and gain the confidence to keep learning.
In this way, initiatives that strengthen teaching practice contribute to the wider aspiration reflected in SDG 1: No Poverty, where education becomes an important pathway toward stability and opportunity.
Learning Through Community Partnerships
For East Bridge University, working with groups like Ashadeep Association is a chance for both sides to learn from each other. Community partners understand local needs, while universities can offer training, academic insights, and places for professional discussion.
Working together in this manner keeps us engaged in conversations on how education and community involvement may help to create welcoming and inclusive learning settings. Little gestures, such as a workshop, donations, or sharing of ideas, can help us make a bigger impact by building stronger educational foundations for regional communities.
